SOME REFLECTIONS - Memorial Day weekend

Enlarge to feel in it!

"SHIMMER SHOT"
Do visit Rinklyrimes who has written a haiku for this shot, which was followed-up by her  blogging friend and poet, jinksy, with a haiku,  as her comment.   Both are so enhancing and wonderful!   It seems that the Haiku Festival continues, thanks to Elizabeth and Tracy Pink Purl who introduced this Festival last month.

Many backyard pools are shared.  This weekend, one moment the pool was full of neighborhood children, and the next moment they were gone to visit another pool!

I was reminded of David Hockney's early Long Island pool paintings, many years ago.  They seemed so unreal at the time.

  1. What wonderful shots! I don't know whether I like the one-ball or the two-ball best! I always think of the patterns sunlight makes on water as hexagons. I don't think they are but they give that impression.

  2. Yes, it is amazing how, in the first two shots, the balls appear to be poised above the water, yet they are floating. In the last shot the blue ball was an attempted shot at the net, yet appears to be sitting on the far edge of the pool. I had really meant just to catch the reflections, but the balls all the way through the series suggest a story in themselves!

  3. The patterns in the water and the colourful balls make for such lovely images! The top two photos are my faves. Sounds like a nice way to spend a public holiday. Hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day long weekend :)

About Me

My photo
JANUS - looking backwards and forwards is a Janus trait - for me a way to record the "in between thought", whether in retrospect, or as a notion for the future. I make original prints, currently etchings. I sometimes write and take photographs. I am inspired by what I see and read. Although postings are chronologically recorded by date and time in this protocol, the images exhibited, often seen in different stages of production, are from another time. So, with each new posting, earlier postings can undergo revision or amplification as will be noted, or requested. The addition of a SNAPSHOTS Blog and a VIRGINIA WOOLF Blog are included because my different interests tend to influence what I do as an artist. There will be a Family Blog, too, for the same reason.
